Cause and solution of multi-ribbed belt Faults
Malfunctions during mechanical use are very tricky. When troubleshooting belt faults, in addition to replacing new products, finding the cause of the fault and mastering the correct use method can give full play to the performance of the belt and prolong its service life.
Fault | Cause | Solution |
Slippage | Belt tension slack | Give moderate tension |
overload | Widen the belt or increase the number of belts
Small contact angle | Widen the belt or place the correct diameter idler pulley
Stained with oil or water | Thoroughly remove oil or water. Install belt cover to prevent oil and water adhesion
Premature rupture | Load changes / suddenly overloaded . The transmission conditions used exceed the transmission capacity of the belt. Failed to hang belts in accordance with the required number of belts; not using the specified belt shape. | The design can be changed, but the hanging belt must be the specified belt shape and number (please use a higher-level belt according to the use) |
Increase heat or excessive bending fatigue use(the diameter of the pulley is too small, the bending angle is too small, and the speed is too fast) | Take measures to reduce heat;
Change the design — change the pulley diameter, rotation speed, and bending angle
Tension becomes loose and slips off | Give moderate tension
Cracked | Use at high temperature | Take exothermic measures |
Tension becomes loose and slips off | Give moderate tension
Continuous emergency stop or emergency start | Change design
Stained with oil, etc. | Avoid oil adhesion and oil leakage
The pulley diameter is too small, and the back tension causes the reverse bending to be too strong | Change design
Direct sunlight | Attach the machine belt cover
Surface cracking | Tension pulley diameter is too small | Use a larger diameter tension pulley |
The bending angle is too small | Give moderate tension
Tension becomes loose and slips off | Give moderate tension
Abrasion | The pulley groove is rusty or the surface of the pulley groove is rough | Evenly process the groove surface of the pulley |
Tension pulley diameter is too small | Use a larger diameter tension pulley
The angle of the pulley device is incorrect; the shape of the pulley is abnormal, and the angle of the pulley groove is not accurate | Adjust the dislocation to below 1/3° , replace the pulley
Excessive vibration | The device of the machine body is unstable and resonates | Fix the device part |
The belt tension is weak | Change the distance between axes
Belt length is not uniform | Use a consistent belt combination
Peel off | The transmission conditions used exceed the capacity of the belt | Hang the belt with the correct size, shape and number |
Used in a deformed state, the method of use causes increased bending fatigue | Change design
Make strange noises | Emergency stop or emergency start | Change the design to make the belt run smoothly |
Belt tension is too loose | Give moderate tension
overload | Widen the belt or increase the number of ribbed used
Machine belt choose error | Choose the belt shape and specifications that meet the operating conditions
ribbed belt flip | Not suitable for pulley groove angle and device angle | Dislocation aligned to the 1/3°or less |
Adhesion of the machine belt due to damage to the pulley groove or rough processing surface | Replace the pulley
The belt length is not uniform when using multiple belts | Use a consistent belt combination |
